Then each tweet you make is sent via SMS to your group of followers.

Just think how powerful it is to have your Twitter messages being delivered instantly to the mobile devices of your followers, not just waiting in the Twitterstream to possibly be noticed. You now know with almost certainty that your messages are being read.

When using Twitter as a mobile marketing tool you need to change your posting strategy just a bit knowing that each time you send a message everyone on the receiving end of the message is looking at their cell phone. No posting about what you ate for breakfast. Instead you need to keep your posts to only important items and ones that truly add value to your followers’ lives. It certainly can be done.

Without a doubt Twitter can be an excellent mobile marketing tool.

The only downfall of this strategy is that if anything ever happened to Twitter (beyond the fail whale) you would lose your list of followers. After all, without Twitter as a platform, you have no way to reach this group of people ever again.

So, if you like the idea of having a group of people you can send SMS messages to on a regular basis I suggest that you start your own text message list. In essence you would be creating your own Twitter stream direct to your groups’ cell phones. I suggest starting right away before everyone else is doing it.

To find out how to do this, you can sign up for my How to Build a Text Message List teleseminar here.

I’m getting a logo created for MobileMarketingProfits and would love to get your feedback. I’m working with crowdSPRING (a marketplace for creative services) and have received several logos from some really wonderful designers.

You can see all the choices that have been submitted for my consideration over at crowdSPRING and give a score to any or all of them if you want. It’s easy, just click on the blue SCORE Crowd at the bottom right hand corner of any logo. It will pop up a screen to let you register. Then you can just choose 1 to 5 stars. (5 is the best). You can vote for more than one.

If you don’t want to register or have any trouble voting online, just find the number of the logo(s) you like – it will show up in the lower right hand corner – and just comment here with by number.

When you get to the page the logos will automatically be sorted by the latest received. If you want to see which ones I am seriously considering then use the Filter/Sort option and sort by Buyer Score. It will automatically move the ones I like best to the top.

Please feel free to vote for a design even if I’m not rating it really high. Maybe I’m missing a real gem and I won’t know it until I see the crowd score.

Thank you so much for helping me to decide. And, for the record, I HIGHLY recommend using crowdSPRING for design work like this. It is easy to use and the design talent that participates there is simply amazing.

See my logo options by clicking here. They are sorted with my favorites up top, but feel free to check them all out if you want.

You should check it out. We’re in good company there. Tomi Ahonen’s Communities Dominate Brands blog is there, as is MobileJones, MobileCrunch, Dean Bubley’s Disruptive Wireless.
So many more too. Very good list.

Other blogs/magazines I’d like to see there:

MobileMarketingWatch needs to be there for sure. So does MobileMarketer and GoMoNews.

I am a member of the free, media lead service called HelpaReporter.com (HARO for Help a Reporter Out) that my friend Peter Shankman runs. It is a simple service where reporters send him a query when they need a source or quote or other resource for a story they are doing. It is totally free and so easy to use. (You should sign up if you are at all interested in getting media coverage.)

Anyway, the other day Peter made it known that someone with quite a few years of media experience (i.e. she should have known better) had been posting the media leads – including the media contacts email addresses – on her own blog. Peter told her to stop doing this, in no uncertain terms. She complied.

Now today, John Greer posts on his blog that Peter was wrong to tell her to stop doing this. I totally disagree with John on this and tried to comment on his blog. However, in order to even comment there a complete registration is required, including a physical address. WTF? That is ridiculous. Mr. Greer is perfectly fine with making people jump through completely unrealistic hoops to comment on his blog, but he thinks it is fine to post media people’s emails on a blog where they can be scrape by spambots. So, I am making my comment here and tracking back.

Actually, I think Peter is right about this. Any PR person worth their salt should understand that posting media emails on a website is just not a good idea. Plus, why is it necessary? That person should have just posted that HARO is a good, free service and suggest that her readers join for themselves.

What do you think about all this? Feel free to comment here, no registration required.
