Announcing The Mobile Marketing Handbook

By this time next year I will be holding in my hands my first published book – The Mobile Marketing Handbook: A Step-by-Step Guide to Creating Dynamic Mobile Marketing Campaigns. At least that’s the working title my publisher and I worked out.

Having been in the book publishing world for the past 11 years, it is not unusual for me to be working with publishers, developing book proposals or even beginning the workings of a marketing plan. It is the first time all of it is for a book of my own though.

It is safe to say that in the next 3 to 6 months my working life will be focused on researching and writing The Mobile Marketing Handbook. I’m excited. I’m honored. I’m ready. I’m a bit nervous. After all, writing a book is a big undertaking.

But I’m willing to do what it takes to make this happen. It’s important to me because this book is the foundation of my new mobile marketing consulting business. It’s not that I’m new to marketing – I’ve been in marketing my whole career; all 19 years of it. The mobile part, that’s new.

The deal is the mobile part is new to most everyone. Mobile marketing here in the U.S. is behind the times. By some accounts 4-8 years behind Europe and Asia. (But that’s another story for later.)

I’m excited to dive into mobile marketing because I have the opportunity to help businesses to figure out how to use the newest marketing tool. I’m inspired to help business owners get a better return on their current marketing efforts by implementing a mobile campaign to go along with it. Bottom line, I want to help businesses succeed.

When my business succeeds so will other businesses.

A blogger I really admire (and am empowered by again and again), Ponn Sabra, is sponsoring a contest in which one lucky woman entrepreneur will win three months of business coaching from Ann Hession, The Women’s Entrepreneur Coach. I’d like it to be me. I could really use some help transitioning into this new venture and giving my new business a solid foundation.

If you’d like to help me win the coaching, please post a comment on Ponn’s blog here. Or maybe you’re a woman entrepreneur yourself and would like to enter the contest too – I recommend it; just writing up this entry made me feel more excited and inspired. I bet it will do the same for you.

  1. My Dearest Kim,

Like WOW! I had NO idea of this HUGE undertaking/biz you’re in/starting-up/building!

I know you well via your mom-tech blog & BMM, and most humbled by your ongoing support of me and my work. Empowering Empowered Women Entrepreneurs, such as yourself, to Action is the very essence of why I LOVE what I do, write, say and live by at EmpowerWomenNow.com–and you know that. So, thanks again for noticing.

So, Phew! Congrats on writing your debut book, Author Kim Dushinski!

You know–the biggest time to promote your book is 6-12 months before it launches and 3 months after, right!?

So, winning 3-months with Ann, The Women Entrepreneurs’ Coach would be so impacting for you now! Good luck.

I’m really glad I am not judging ;-)

  2. Ponn:

    Thanks for your encouragement!

Thankfully, I do know about book marketing since that was my primary business for 10 years. Funny, now I know why authors say that they have to finish the writing before they can give mental energy to marketing. It is just odd to start marketing before it is finished being written – but I will do it anyway =:)

BTW, I still have a book marketing website that helps authors market their books. It is http://www.HowToMarketMyBook.com.

  3. Hi Kim,
Loved reading your entry — now I want to learn more about Mobile Marketing! You are up to some great stuff, my dear. Thanks for entering and for sharing the contest! (Let’s face it, sharing it means more competition for winning, so thanks for your generosity!) I hope more of your readers will enter — I’d love to hear what they are up to and want they want to create.

If any of you are considering it, I want you to know that it doesn’t matter if you have an existing business or just a great idea for one, I want to hear about it and why it matters to you! Go to Ponn’s site and enter — you just pick one of three questions to answer and send it in!

Did you know you get a FREE coaching session just for entering? You know what they say at the carnival — “Everyone’s a Winner!” Well, I won’t promise you a big neon colored stuffed animal, but I do promise you a great conversation that will create clarity, inspiration and forward action for your dream or project. Go for it!
    –Ann

  4. Bravo Kim. I would love to put out a book, it is so much work though. I will make all of my clients buy it! Or at least buy it for them. Thanks for your hard work here, it helps us all.
